    AMERICAN HERITAGE® Chocolate Summer Cake

    Delicious chocolate cake with refreshing whipped cream and strawberry layer.

    • Cake Ingredients:
    • 2/3 cup American Heritage® Finely Grated Chocolate Drink
    • 2 cups flour
    • 2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 2 teaspoons baking soda
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
    • 2 cups buttermilk or whole milk
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 6 tablespoons butter
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla
    • 2 eggs
    • Chocolate Drizzle:
    • 1/2 cup American Heritage® Finely Grated Chocolate Drink
    • 1/2 cup heavy cream
    • 3 tablespoons butter
    • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
    • Additional Toppings:
    • Whipped cream
    • Fresh strawberries
    Step 1

    Preheat the oven to 350F. Grease two 9” cake pans, set aside.

    Step 2

    Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and ginger in a large mixing bowl and set aside.

    Step 3

    In a saucepan bring the buttermilk, sugar and butter to a simmer. Cook until the sugar and butter both dissolve. Remove from the heat, stir in the chocolate and mix until it dissolves.

    Step 4

    Pour the chocolate mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring until incorporated. Stir in the eggs and vanilla.

    Step 5

    Pour batter into prepared cake pans filling them about 2/3 full. Bake until the center is firm and cake tester insert comes out clean, about 16 minutes. Let cool.

    Step 6

    Cover one layer of cooled chocolate cake with whipped cream and cut strawberries. Place second cooled cake directly on top of cream and strawberries.

    Step 7

    To make chocolate drizzle bring the heavy cream and butter to a simmer. Add powdered sugar and stir quickly. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the chocolate, mixing until it is completely melted and the mixture is smooth. Drizzle over top layer of cake.
