    Use this royal icing to decorate AMERICAN HERITAGE® Chocolate shortbread cookies!

    Recipe Yield: about 1 cup
    Active Time: 10 minutes

    • 2 egg whites
    • 2 cups confectioners’ sugar
    Step 1

    Using an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat egg whites on medium until frothy, about 1 minute.

    Step 2

    Reduce speed to low, add sugar ½ cup at a time, slowly increasing speed to medium high after each addition. Beat until mixture is the consistency of shampoo. Adjust consistency with a small amount of water or additional sugar as needed.

    Step 3

    Store in an airtight container with plastic pressed directly on surface of icing at room temperature up to 1 day or in refrigerator up to 5 days.
